Moscow Mule

Moscow Mule

Does the price of limes have you down this spring? Worried about all the margaritas and guacamole that may not be this summer? Don’t worry – we’ve got something for you to smile about. This cocktail uses half the lime juice as a traditional margarita, and is still a refreshing spring and summer cocktail. Say hello to the Moscow Mule…

A traditional Moscow Mule is Vodka, lime and ginger beer, however we used White Rye inspired by a local distiller in our area.

White Rye Whiskey - Thistle Finch Distillery

I’ve been ginger ale/beer crazy lately; it’s super crisp and insanely refreshing. I’ve sampled all the different brands from my local market, and this just happens to be my favorite, since it has the strongest ginger taste.

A traditional Moscow Mule is made with Vodka. This is a little twist, inspired by a local distiller, that swaps White Rye Whiskey for Vodka.

2 ounces of Vodka or White Rye
1/2 ounce of lime juice (about 1/2 lime)
4 ounces of Ginger Beer
lime slice for garnish (if desired)
fresh ice

Add ice to collins glass (traditional) or glass of choice (I used a double old fashioned glass).

Pour vodka (or white rye) and lime juice over ice. Pour in ginger beer and stir gently.

Garnish with lime and enjoy!
