Does the price of limes have you down this spring? Worried about all the margaritas and guacamole that may not be this summer? Don’t worry – we’ve got something for you to smile about. This cocktail uses half the lime juice as a traditional margarita, and is still a refreshing spring and summer cocktail. Say hello to the Moscow Mule…
A traditional Moscow Mule is Vodka, lime and ginger beer, however we used White Rye inspired by a local distiller in our area.
I’ve been ginger ale/beer crazy lately; it’s super crisp and insanely refreshing. I’ve sampled all the different brands from my local market, and this just happens to be my favorite, since it has the strongest ginger taste.
Moscow Mule
A traditional Moscow Mule is made with Vodka. This is a little twist, inspired by a local distiller, that swaps White Rye Whiskey for Vodka. 2 ounces of Vodka or White Rye 1/2 ounce of lime juice (about 1/2 lime) 4 ounces of Ginger Beer lime slice for garnish (if desired) fresh iceAdd ice to collins glass (traditional) or glass of choice (I used a double old fashioned glass).
Pour vodka (or white rye) and lime juice over ice. Pour in ginger beer and stir gently.
Garnish with lime and enjoy!
